Meet Glenn Cooke
Our head trainer in Double Bay is the highly respected Glenn Cooke, who’s been training people and their dogs for more than 21 years in both basic behaviours as well as training service dogs to perform complex and complicated tasks.
In that time Glenn has learnt that the emphasis on dog training should always be placed on training the owners/handlers of the dogs, after which the dog’s learning will follow. Glenn uses enjoyable, easy to learn techniques when training which is always aimed at improving the bond between owners and their dogs.
Glenn’s experience covers training dogs in a variety of roles from family pets to working dogs for services.
He currently oversees Two of Sydney’s premiere Boarding facilities in Dural and Terrigal and has had a long standing career in the Professional Pet care and training industry.
Some of Glenn’s role involves breeding, socialisation & development, assessment and advanced training of working dogs to perform a variety of tasks including advanced obedience & agility.
Glenn is also experienced in assisting dogs de-sensitise to fears and anxieties ranging from strangers, cars, noises, other dogs, storms, heights, stairs, slippery floors. He also specialises in helping owners manage ‘problem’ dogs to fit into the pack at home ensuring boundaries are set which give the dog confidence in its place at home.
Using common sense techniques Glenn is able to target problem behaviours in dogs such as destructive chewing, digging, barking, jumping and people/animal aggression.
With a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing which is very valuable in teaching owners how to train and maintain their own dogs and he also trains students during their Cert 111 in professional Dog Training and Behaviour course with the NDTF.
